At what age should kids start taking lessons?

This is the #1 question parents ask. The answer is...when they are ready! I recommend that parents start letting their children be involved with the game as early as they want. This doesn't mean lessons. It means hitting balls on the range, playing putting games on the pratice green, and tagging along during a round.

They will start asking curious questions about the swing. "How come when I do this the ball does that?" -or- "Why do you hit the ball higher than me?" Now you know they are interested and ready to begin lessons.

The age is different for every child. I teach kids as early as 6 years old but experience has taught me that their mental and physical development is more suited for game improvement at aroung age 10.

There are many programs throughout the country that cater to all levels of Junior golf. I teach a junior program at The Creek at Qualchan golf course that is set-up and managed by the Spokane City Parks & Recreation department. This group junior clinic is held several times throughout the year with information and registration found at http://www.spokanegolf.org/
